Where to Place a Reed Diffuser in a Small Room
Place a reed diffuser on a stable, protected surface in an open part of the room, where gentle air movement can carry the fragrance without exposing the bottle to strong drafts or heat.
In a small room, avoid positioning it immediately beside your bed, desk chair or favourite seat. Begin with fewer reeds and allow the fragrance time to settle before increasing the intensity.
Choose an Open but Protected Position
A reed diffuser works as fragrance oil travels through the reeds and releases scent into the surrounding air. It does not need to sit directly beside a window, fan or air-conditioning vent.
A suitable position should be:
- Stable and level
- Away from the edge of the surface
- Open enough that the reeds are not touching a wall or shelf
- Separated from fabrics, paper and electronics
- Away from strong heat and direct sunlight
- Inaccessible to children and pets
A dresser, protected console table or clear section of shelving can work well if the diffuser cannot be easily bumped.
Protect the Surface Underneath
Fragrance oil may mark timber, painted furniture, stone, fabric and other finishes.
Place the vessel on a small oil-resistant tray or protective coaster before inserting the reeds. Do not turn the reeds while holding them over furniture, carpet or bedding.
If you refresh the fragrance by flipping the reeds, do so carefully over a protected surface. Wipe the outside of the bottle if any oil runs down the vessel.

A small bedroom or home office may not need every supplied reed.
Start with a smaller number, then give the fragrance time to disperse through the room. Add another reed only if the result remains too light.
